Vanessa was delighted to accept a coveted place for the 3 year BA (Hons) in Acting at The Lir - National Academy of Dramatic Art at Trinity College Dublin. In September 2011, Vanessa joined the inaugural group of 15 acting students in Ireland's first National Academy. The Lir is formally associated with the world renowned Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London. http://www.thelir.ie
In late August 2011, Vanessa will shoot Karl Argue's short film 'The Anti-Love Pill'. Vanessa will play the role of Wendy in this quirky comedy directed by Karl Argue.
'The Inside' will feature as part of the screening programme in 2011's Underground Film Festival in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. The film will be screened on Friday 9th September at 4.30pm. Tickets are available to purchase here.
In mid August 2011, Vanessa shoots 'The Shadows' on location in Meath. Vanessa appears as The Shadow Girl in Colin Downey's latest feature film. "The Shadows is a fantasy drama inspired by George MacDonald's fairytale of the same name. It tells the story of a nine year old boy, Matthew, who finds a key to a magical world at the bottom of his grandmother's garden.” Following his encounter with The Shadows, the film focuses on Matthew’s relationship with them in the style of a contemporary fairytale. This feature will star Michael Parle (Our Wonderful Home), Emma Eliza Regan (The Fading Light) and Natalia Kostrzewa (The Looking Glass).
Hubbard & Banks MEDIA's first short film 'Every Second Sunday' premiered at the 2011 Galway Film Fleadh on 8th July at The Town Hall. This moving, sweet short story centres on Gordon, Jeff & Kevin as three separated fathers who have limited access to their children. Trying to bond becomes an emotive and raw struggle for parent and child. Vanessa plays the role of Amanda in this picture. The film also stars, Simon Delaney, Craig Conway, Paul Reid, Jane Elizabeth Walsh, Amy Kirwan & Vivienne Connolly. 'Every Second Sunday' is produced by Jane Elizabeth Walsh & the IFTA winning Tommy Fitzpatrick.
*Séamus McCormack's video work 'Galatea' was recently shown as part of the Belfast Film Festival. It is also scheduled to be shown in the Galway Arts Centre in July 2011.
Simon Hubbard's 'Every Second Sunday' is currently in post production. Vanessa plays the role of Amanda opposite Craig Conway (Doomsday, Dog Soldiers, Vera Drake) Also co-starring in this picture is Simon Delaney, Jane Elizabeth Walsh & Vivienne Connolly.

In late June, shooting wrapped for the short film 'The Vice President'. The film stars Vanessa and Jane Elizabeth Walsh, writer of the film. 'The Vice President' is produced by Hubbard and Banks Media.

At the beginning of March, Vanessa filmed episode 3 of 'Mariana'. 'Mariana' is a new 6-part web-series - commissioned as part of Ireland's RTÉ Storyland competition. Vanessa appears as one of Mariana's wicked sisters 'Sandra'. Episode 3 airs on March 15th.

At the end of November 09, Vanessa wrapped feature film shoot 'The Inside'. Directed by Eoin Macken, the film is due to be released in 2010. Vanessa plays the character of 'Louise' in this horror picture.

Vanessa worked with Artistic Director of Idir Mna Theatre Company, Yvonne Ussher, as Press Officer (PR & Media Relations), for the debut performance of an all female Glengarry Glen Ross by David Mamet @ The New Theatre in November 09
Vanessa & fellow actress Jane Elizabeth Walsh co-ordinated the debut Intensive Method Acting 2 week workshop with American director/actor Robert Castle in August 09. Following its success, a second workshop took place in October 09.

‘Outside of Heaven’ premiered in June 2009 at The Galway Film Fleadh. The feature film, directed by Eamon Burke, tells the story of Sam O’Rourke (Fergus Kavanagh), a small time drug dealer from Dublin North Central with vague aspirations of becoming a film director. He meets Sara Owen (Vanessa Matias Fahy), a yoga instructor into the power of positive thinking. They fall madly in love and Sara begins to push Sam to realise his childhood dreams, without any idea of the nightmare that this will cause for both of them.

Vanessa appeared as Linda, the bride, in Willy Russell’s acerbic, bittersweet comedy ‘Stags and Hens’ at The New Theatre, Dublin in February 2009 for six weeks.
